Courtney P. Coburn

Attorney

Courtney grew up in small-town Pamplin, Virginia, on a family farm with her parents and two younger brothers. From a young age, she was taught the importance of hard work and integrity. She believes your word is your bond and anchors her life in that truth, both personally and professionally.

Courtney quickly and proudly assumed the role of advocate after her oldest brother became mentally and physically disabled. Having the privilege of walking beside him through life has molded Courtney into the person she is today. Watching him struggle to complete daily tasks, to communicate without speaking, or to even walk is a daily reminder that each day is a gift and best spent serving other people with what we have been given. Yet despite his challenges, his overwhelming joy is her inspiration.

Courtney is passionate about being a voice for those who cannot speak for themselves. That passion fuels her advocacy for her clients. She sees each case as an opportunity to build a professional relationship, to try to understand what each person is enduring, and to walk alongside them through what may be one of life’s darkest days. Prior to working at PJI Law, Courtney represented families of children with special needs in the District of Columbia through special education advocacy. Through those experiences, she has learned how to keep the end goal in focus and adjust the means to be most fruitful for her clients. Sometimes that means grit, and sometimes that means grace. In trial, her heartbeat has been to not only strive for an eloquent legal argument, but to create a space for her client’s story to be told.

Courtney resides in Northern Virginia with her husband and two daughters. She has a love for music, and in her spare time she enjoys serving individuals with disabilities in her church and community. Courtney looks forward every day to using her life experiences to serve the clients of PJI Law with passion and integrity.
